Well I had been telling quite a few peeps about the idea of taking the total number of Christmas cards you need to give out, then dividing it by the number of weeks in a year to figure out how many cards you need to make in a week. By doing this you’ll keep sane and have enough cards by the time the season approaches, instead of burning the midnight oil trying to get your cards done. So as the old idiom goes, practice what you preach! Sparkle does this and Peg is just starting to do this too. Besides, it’s comforting to do a Christmas card as I can bring out all the things I love best about making these cards! Flourishes, sparkles, decadence…I’m there!
As I know myself, there will be other challenges, events and of course new goodies that I will want to create with. Soooo…right now we’re in week 17 of 52 weeks this year and I don’t want to be creating cards in December for necessity, which would then give me…30 weeks to create! (Doesn’t this sound like a math problem gone wrong?!) If I aim to do at least one card a week and two on others, I’ll be in good shape to really be able to send the joy this holiday season. And so it begins today…
I just can’t get enough of this Cuttlebug Lace Tree! (unfortunately, it’s a 2008 limited edition and is difficult to find unless Provo decides to re-run it soooooo bug them about it!) In case you hadn’t already seen it, click here for my post from last year talking about the tree. I couldn’t resist making my first Christmas card with it and it won’t be the last! The paper is Bazzill and I found some red mirrored foil cardstock at Classic. As I picked up the last of the cardstock, I will have to ask that they bring more later on in the year. For the glitter I used Glitter Ritz’s Sweet Basil MicroFine glitter using the modified Burnished Velvet technique. (this one is for Heraldine W. and Deanna P !) It’s a subtle look against the red but that’s exactly the effect I was wanting. The sentiment was stamped in VersaMark Champagne Dazzle then clear heat embossed.
Cardstock: Bazzill, Red Foil
Stamps: Festive Thoughts (CTMH)
Ink: Champagne Dazzle VersaMark (Tsukineko)
Embellishments: Sweet Bazill MicroFine (Glitter), Clear EP
Well, Jeff and I are off for a nice sunny drive in the country today in search of this amazing farmhouse cheese! (I can be such a foodie at times!)
Have a phenominal Sunday!! Thanks for dropping in and visiting!
