My Summer Vacation ~ Inspiration Emporium

[Ahhhh…I haven’t dropped off the face of the earth! LOL Since getting back from CHA, life has been busy. I spent quite a bit of time with family, focusing on the wonderful things that I often forget to do. Yep…I stopped and smelled the roses…in doing so I inadvertently unplugged myself from everything, evaluated a few things in life, including lifestyle and re-energized. (I’ll tell you more about that later.) In doing so, I’m behind on a few things but am catching up with a renewed outlook and energy.]

Remember the first day of school back where one of your first assignments was to write an essay about your Summer Vacation? Over at the Inspiration Emporium, there are no essays just wonderful crafty goodness projects! There’s still time to get your Summer Vacation/Travel related project in to be included in August’s monthly challenge for a chance to win $50 in Emporium Dollars.

Here’s my travel inspired project!

I just LOVE travel Anya from the Greeting Farm and since I hadn’t coloured in a little while, she and Copics were calling to me. She makes me smile!

For the background, after I had embossed, I brayered on embossing ink and liberally applied Heat & Stick powder then tapped some off. Heat until just melted and then sprinkled on the glitter. As I had tapped off the heat & stick powder the glitter stuck on only in the areas left and turned out nicely grungy looking. I sponged on antique linen and vintage photo to give it that glam yet old Europe kind of feel.

Zoë’s Trinket Box – an Inspiration Emporium Feature

Welcome friends! I’m so excited to share this project with you. It’s the one I had been working on for a couple of weeks just trying to get just right!

I was originally going to have this for my June project for Inspiration Emporium but due to technical difficulties on a crafty scale, it’s now my project for July! YaY!

My inspiration for this project is my 4 year old niece, Zoe. I was going to make a box for a magic wand, perhaps something you would imagine from the Harry Potter series. But as I was visualizing this box it became more clear to me to make a trinket box where she can keep things in a cool box.

I’ve posted a few pictures below but please go on over to the Inspiration Emporium for the full tutorial and details.

For the inside lining of the box, I used this set of paper by Graphic 45.

A side view of the box with all the wonderful Tim Holtz idea-ology metal.

A top view of the box with complete with a silver glittered Z.

After working out all the kinks, I think I’ll make one or two more as I just loved how it turned out!

Now, all I have to do is just send it filled with some goodies. As late as it is!

Be sure to check out the tutorial on Inspiration Emporium.

Thanks for visiting me today which just happens to be on my 5th blog anniversary!!! I’m currently blogging this from Las Vegas after completing day one of the Craft and Hobby Association summer trade show. I will find some goodies to give away from the show.

Have a great day!
