For a very special little girl ~ Spike’s Birthday Palooza Day 5

Welcome to the last day of Spike’s Birthday Palooza!

It’s absolutely perfect that we end it with a card for my niece’s birthday! She turned 3rd last week. 🙂

I had coloured this cute Flutter Anya by the Greeting Farm during one crafty chat night where the craft gals chat via Skype and we craft away. I think it was due to their influence (a large number of them have been or are on the Greeting Farm design team), so it was completely out of my control and I was compelled to colour a Greeting Farm image! lol

Here are the colours I used:

Of course what is great about having card parts around is that you can use them later! So it was an absolute delight to find this gal all coloured up and ready to mount on a card. I just grabbed a water brush with some perfect pearls and added some shimmery highlights (you can see the purple iridescence on her wings below). It’s that pink ribbon again! Yup, I just grabbed some of Tim Holtz’s seam binding ribbon and coloured it with his Picked Raspberry Distress Ink.

I really wanted to make the card special and decorated the inside as well using a couple of balloon stickers and twine. I just couldn’t find the right Happy Birthday font for the inside so I used stickers 🙂

Funny story…if you look at the purple Happy Birthday pennant at the front of the card, you’ll see 3 tiny pink rhinestones. I used the i-rock to stick those on. Well, I grabbed a different gems case without even thinking and immediately melted the gem completely! Apparently, not all gems are created equal so make sure you’re using the right gems with the i-rock. It took me two tries before I figured out what I had done!

Thanks so much for hanging out with me celebrating Birthdays this week! Tomorrow is the regularly scheduled, Easy Peasy Christmas cards. Have a fabulous day!

Love,

  1. Hi Spike

This card is so cute, love the colors. I feel sure your niece will treasure it, especially because it came from her crafty Aunt.
