Use Scrap! ~ Drunken Stampers 16

Well for this challenge at Drunken Stampers, we were challenged to use Scrap! Yes this does sound somewhat funny because well we use scrap all the time. In this case we’re taking things literally and we had to use scraps that are lying around! Yup! No cutting up a new sheet of patterned paper or cutting a new piece of ribbon, etc. But if you’re like me this shouldn’t be as tough as you think to find scraps. I have scraps everywhere and I think the tough part is knowing when to throw it out! The challenge comes in putting all these scraps together to make a somewhat put together card.

The image was one that I had stamped last summer while visiting Peggy and I had coloured it while over at Kim’s place when we were playing around with Copics. I don’t have a lot but I do have some images that I have coloured and haven’t done anything with them.

When I looked around my table there was a Basic Grey 6×6 patterned paper pack that I hadn’t put away (it’s been there a little while methinks since this around for Valentine’s Day!). When using these 6×6 paper packs, I will tuck scraps back into the paper packs to keep them all together. Most often though, I will glance through the scraps quickly and jump to the fresh uncut piece that inspires me but not for this challenge!  The Memory Box card base and heart cut out were just lying around on my table.  Hmmmm…maybe if I do this often enough, will I be able to see my desk???!

What’s in it:
Paper: White Simply Smooth (Prism), All pattern papers – Sugar Rush (Basic Grey), Pink and Crimson (Memory Box)
Ink: Black Dye (Amuse)
Stamp: Hope and Grace (The Greeting Farm)
Embellishments: Red Pearls (Queen and Co.)
Copics: Sorry I didn’t write them down 😦

Be sure to check out the other Drunken Stampers to see what sorts of scrap they dug up for the challenge!  It’s also the last challenge of one of our wonderful designers, Donna, as she’ll be off RV’ing for the summer!! Lucky gal! 😉

So being the rare multi-tasker that I can exhibit from time to time, I drafted this post on Monday. As I knew I would be away for the weekend. *WHEEEEEE* I will be up in the Shuswap area of BC reloading my box of images! Re-ink Amuse Dye ink pad and bring re-inker…CHECK! Bring a ream (250 sheets) of Copic paper…CHECK! Bring CARL (I wouldn’t leave home without my CARL paper cutter!!)…CHECK! Pick up a big pack of baby wipes…CHECK!!!

Yup, I’m at Peggy’s place!! WAHOOO!!! I haven’t seen her since August and since then she’s completed chemo and radiation treatment and is on the upswing! Plus she’s reminded me a few times to bring the Greeting Farm images that she doesn’t have. (I find this hard to believe because I swear she has them ALL! LOL)

Her online store Stamp, Paper, Glue is hosting a crop today and she asked if I wanted to come up! Let me tell ‘ya! She didn’t have to ask me twice! (plus she’s selling her Copic sketch markers for $5.99 so my marker case may be a little fuller coming home!)

Enjoy the weekend!! Thanks for dropping in today!

  1. Okay, so I’m a little jealous that I’m not there playing with you guys (and having cocktails), but I’m so glad you get to spend some time together! Love your card, Miss Spike!

  2. Hi Spike,
Love the card you made from scrap. Its hard to beleive what you can do with scraps. Pauline, taught me never to throw away scraps, even little bits of ribbon.Glad to hear you are with your friend so have a super weekend. Hey Mr Sun is out. Yay!!

  3. … dropped in to tell you that your little red-headed girl speaks to me because of my older, red-headed sister (who drove me nuts as a kid), and her girls … my two nieces … both redheads who would be so, SO pleased to wear the little dress you designed. 🙂
