It’s day 2 of the Verve challenges and it’s back to Julee’s great sketches. Don’t forget to head on over to the Verve Forum at Splitcoast to see what all the hubbub is all about! (No I don’t work for them, I just LOOOVE their stuff! Can’t you tell?)
Here’s sketch #2:
I was super excited to see this sketch as I had bits and pieces of a card in process. One of the things I picked up while in Ontario at a Michaels was this 8×8 48 page Charlemagne Paper Pack by SEI and it just so happened that the big M was having a 50% off paper pads sale. What I just love about this paper pack is that in addition to printed papers, it has 8 pages with copper foil designs, 8 varnished papers (which I think they mean clear liquid embossed) and their linen coloured cardstock is coloured only on one side (great for dry embossing, tearing, etc). I started to make a card using this paper pack but hadn’t finished it and was perfect for this challenge.
The Happily Ever After Card, great for a wedding anniversary or for a wedding card. I really need to keep some cards around for those special occasions!
Special deets: In the middle of each Starburst scallop is a copper brad with a Bliss Pearl set on top.
Trying to get the copper elastic cord to stay was really tricky as they’re really slippery things! I took one end, twisted it then clipped it with one of those black butterfly swing back clips and did the same to the other end without the cord twisting upon itself. Then I carefully used Liquid Glass aka Crystal Effects and dabbed it between both strands of cord and on the ends. I let it sit until it was dry which was about 15 minutes or so. Unclipped the clips, took a separate piece of cord and tied it in the middle then added more liquid glass to ensure that it doesn’t slip apart. I had also used Liquid Glass to glue the cord onto the card. Liquid Glass is really handy! I had also used it to accentuate the copper on the leaf above the sentiment.
Also on the leaf, I had gone over the black parts with Black Glaze pen to give it a shiny look.
Finally with the sentiment, I first stamped it with Copper Brilliance Pigment ink then used clear embossing powder. I then realized that I could have used copper embossing powder but I loved the way it turned out and left it as is.
