When I quickly finished what is the 2nd card sketch, I was looking around at a new batch of supplies I had picked up that weekend. One of those things were those Peel It’s, Peel Off’s stickers which are from Europe. They’re very fine, delicate, lace like stickers that I’m always freaked when trying to take them off the sheet that I might break them. That being said, they’re quite sturdy little suckers! At my LSS, they had used these Peel Off’s and coloured the open areas with Glaze Sakura pens, which are cool in itself! (This company, Sakura, makes the coolest/neatest/awesomest/phatest pens to play with!! LOL) If you’ve never seen them, they dry glassy…almost glaze like so you can easily create a stained glass look.
So with wanting to try this technique then find a sketch to match…here’s what I have come up with!
The holly card:
So first I had taken the gold holly sticker and placed it on some white cardstock. Then grabbed a red and green Glaze pen and just filled in the open areas, let it dry then had gone over it again to create a thicker coat. In the open areas, I just filled those in with my trusty Clear Stardust Glitter pen.
If you notice it looks “lumpy” in some of the leaf areas because I hadn’t waited for the first layer to dry before reapplying the next layer. What I’ve done with other cards is that I have done a couple of layers of the Glaze and then use a Copic Spica coloured glitter pen on top.
Here’s a close up of the Holly:
All in all the technique was fun but I’m not sure if I’d do it too often, I just may play around with it a little more before I pass judgement! LOL
You may also notice on the Fa La La paper that the spots in between the red leaves? (I don’t know what else to call them) has Holly Stickles on it. (Holly is a mix of red and green glitter)
An interesting point is the red lace band with the green pearls were added a week ago, although the card was made in September. Looking back at it, I knew it needed something more but didn’t know what. Until…I added a Fiskars Sunburst border punch to the supply closet! I cut a strip of red cardstock 1.25″ wide then punched down one side then down the other and voila! Another fun thing to play with!
